President Bush Signs Ban on Steroid Precursors

On January 20, 2005 steroid precursors (prohormones) will become controlled substances, and will therefore be illegal in the United States.

The prohormone criminalization legislation (S. 2195) has now been passed by both the U.S. Senate and the House. The bill was signed by President Bush on Friday, October 22. The effective date of the bill is 90 days from the date the President signed the bill into law, which is January 20, 2005.

This legislation adds 18 substances to the list of banned anabolic steroids, including androstenedione, THG and many prohormones.
