Creatine And Glutamine Revisited

-------------------------------------

In the quest to build lean, hard muscle and increase strength, stamina and endurance most people focus on the newest, hottest, latest sports nutrition supplements on the market. In the process, however, they forget about the supplement staples, the tried and true supplements that have been around for years and are proven to be effective.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some amazing new supplements out there. I think the natural testosterone booster 3,6,17-Androstenetrione is the most exciting thing to happen to the sports nutrition industry, probably ever!

But above and beyond the hottest and latest supplement crazes, don’t forget about the basics – like whey protein, flax seed oil, a good vitamin/mineral complex, vitamin C, vitamin E or creatine & glutamine.

I would like to focus on two key supplements that my personal sports supplement stack would never be without – creatine & glutamine.

Creatine is the most popular sports nutrition supplement of all time. This title is well deserved. When creatine was first introduced in 1995, it changed the sports nutrition industry forever. For the first time bodybuilders, strength athletes and fitness-minded people had access to a nutritional supplement that produced immediate and dramatic effects.

When you take creatine monohydrate it causes your muscle cells to retain more water. It is important to note that this water retention is inner cellular. It is not water between the muscle and the skin, like when you are bloated. This is water retention inside the actual muscle cell, so when you take creatine it stretches out the skin and makes you appear tighter and harder – not water logged.

In addition to making you look harder and leaner, the volumized muscle cell also is stronger and creates more ATP energy. Bottom line – the volumized muscle cells, attained from taking creatine, have more strength, endurance and energy!

The results are dramatic. Most people gain 5-10 lbs of inner cellular muscle weight in the first week! Strength levels will dramatically increase as will muscle stamina and endurance when you take creatine.

The second supplement I want to focus on is another one that should be a staple of any sports supplement stack. This supplement may not get the attention of other products, but don’t forget about the amazing supplement – glutamine.

I truly believe glutamine is the most underrated supplement in the world of sports nutrition and I consider it a staple and a cornerstone of any sports supplement stack. Glutamine not only has muscle cell volumizing characteristics similar to creatine (it volumizes muscles cells causing them to be bigger, stronger and have more endurance), but it also is an anti-catabolic agent. Its anti-catabolic properties put you in a positive nitrogen balance, which allows you to utilize protein much better than you could without supplementing with glutamine.

The anti-catabolic properties of glutamine should not be underestimated. When you supplement with glutamine the results are dramatic! This is because you can eat more protein and most importantly utilize all that protein toward your muscle building and strength goals like never before! It truly is an amazing supplement!

Well now that I have you all revved up about taking creatine and glutamine, let’s talk about how to take them. How much creatine and glutamine you want to supplement with is based on your bodyweight. If you weigh up to 225 lbs, you should supplement 5 to 10 grams (one heaping teaspoon is approximately 5 grams) of both creatine and glutamine every day. If you’re over 225 lbs, it should be more like 10 to 15 grams each. This is the maintenance dosage -- the dosage you take every day.

But before you get to the maintenance dose, there is a loading phase. If you haven’t supplemented with creatine and glutamine before, or you haven’t taken them for a while (over 4 weeks), then you should take 5 grams, 5 times daily of both creatine and glutamine, if you weigh less than 225 lbs. If you weigh more than 225 lbs, the loading phase is 10 grams each, 5 times daily. The loading phase should last 5 to 7 days.

The best way to supplement with creatine and glutamine is to take it with a high-glycemic sugar source, like glucose. The best natural food source of glucose is grape juice. You could also use a sports drink, like Gatorade, Powerade or Electroade. I mix 10 grams of glutamine and 10 grams of creatine (I weigh 300 lbs) with my sports drink, Electroade, sip it during my workout and finish the majority of it after my workout. If I don’t workout on a given day (this hardly ever happens), I still take the 10 grams each of glutamine and creatine, but I mix it with water, because I don’t want that excess sugar anytime except right after or during a workout.

Are glutamine and creatine safe? Absolutely! Not only are they safe, they are true health supplements. Even if you don’t workout, glutamine has amazing health benefits due to its powerful immune system boosting properties. Creatine is actually the main energy source for your heart, so supplementing with creatine is heart healthy!

Well, there you have it. Creatine, probably the most popular sports supplement of all time, and glutamine, probably the most underrated sports nutrition supplement, are two products my personal sports supplement stack will never be without. They are safe, effective and reasonably priced. You should be “chomping at the bit” to get your hands on these amazing products and I am going to make it easy for you to do just that.

I sell 1,000 gram tubs of 100% pure, pharmaceutical grade creatine and glutamine. It is important to emphasize quality. If you have tried either of these products and have not gotten the results you expected, it is very possible you were using a product of inferior quality. The nutritional supplement industry is currently unregulated (this is going to change very soon) and some unscrupulous companies cut their products with fillers to increase profit margins. It is important to use nutritional supplement brands you can trust. At HouseOfMuscle.com all the products we sell are Certified Quality Products.

I personally use every product we sell and if you know anything about how seriously I take my training, diet and supplementation, you know I would never use a product I did not totally believe in.
