The Latest on the Andro/ProHormone Ban

As I first reported in an earlier newsletter, on March 11, 2004, the Food and Drug Administration issued a warning telling the 23 major manufacturers of Andro and ProHormones to cease their production of these products.

With the threat, "if firms refuse to cease distributing these products, we may seize products, pursue injunctions or seek criminal actions", the FDA began a process that would cut off these products at the source. If no one is making it, then no one will be able to get it.

The next step was to offically make Andro and ProHormones illegal. This proccess has already started. On June 4th, Congress passed a bill that makes it illegal to make, distribute, possess or use these products. The bill is now in the Senate and as soon as it passes, and it will, Andro and ProHormones will be illegal.

One state has decided to take matters into its own hands and not wait for national action. California went ahead and passed a law that made these products illegal. So, if you live in California, you are "officially" breaking the law if you buy and use Andro and ProHormones. Don't worry though. There is a loophole in both the soon to be passed national bill and California's law.

There are some important issues, which very few people know about, to keep in mind here. The bill that will soon pass in the Senate carries the stipulation that for a product to be illegal, a list must be created that specifies the name of the supplement company selling the product and the specific name of the product. This is NOT a blanket ban on all ProHormones in existence. That would just be too difficult as supplement companies could just slightly alter the compound and say it is a different substance, even though it would produce similar results. Let me state this point again, as it is very important. For a product to be officially illegal, it must be specifically referred to and included on the list of banned products.

I have seen the list and right now it only includes the major players, the biggest supplement companies and their biggest selling products. That does not mean a product can not be added to the list at a later date. That is exactly what will happen as a government watchdog group will be surfing the web and muscle magazines searching for the major selling ProHormones and adding them to the list.
